Thank you for your interest in the Sierra Mutual Funds.
The Sierra Mutual Funds are managed by Wright Fund Management, LLC (WFM), one of
the Sierra group of companies. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Santa Monica,
California, Sierra and affiliates presently manage over $1.7 billion in assets for
retirees and other conservative clients.
Since inception, we at Sierra have focused on the goals, needs and concerns of retirees
and other conservative investors, and the strategies we use in our mutual funds
as well as our private managed accounts have been specifically designed to serve
those goals. Our twin goals are to limit downside risk, and to provide satisfying
returns on average over a market cycle – a combination that the investment community
has labeled “absolute return” in recent years.
At Sierra, we take the view that we cannot manage returns – the stock, bond, currency
and commodity markets fluctuate significantly and unpredictably – but we can manage
downside risk. And we believe that our first priority is to attempt to keep our clients out
of trouble, for both our mutual funds and our managed separate accounts. Accordingly,
we apply an integrated, well proven set of risk-management disciplines to limit
the impact of adverse market episodes on our managed accounts and our mutual funds.
- The Sierra Core Retirement Fund commenced operations in December 2007, and is managed
in the same “core” absolute-return style that we have applied to the majority of
our private managed accounts since 1993.
- The Sierra Strategic Income Fund commenced operations in December 2011, and is designed
to have somewhat lower volatility and downside risk than the Core Fund, while still
being managed in a tactical style with absolute return goals.
